Pathologists’ Assistant – Research / Biorepository (Full Time, On-Site in Duarte, CA)

City of Hope is hiring a certified Pathologists’ Assistant to support surgical pathology and biorepository operations. The role includes specimen processing, frozen sections, autopsy support, research coordination, and serving as a liaison with research teams. Operating within a CLIA-regulated lab, the position involves collaboration with both Surgical Pathology and Biorepository leadership. Flexibility is required for on-call shifts (~5 days/month) to collect postmortem tissues within 24 hours of donation. Each workday is a full 8-hour shift.
As a successful candidate, you will:

Accession surgical specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Process and gross specimens according to CAP and CLIA 88 guidelines (Lists A, B, and C) for anatomic pathology

Conduct quality control and assurance procedures to maintain lab standards

Maintain gross room operations, including equipment, inventory, specimen storage/disposal, and overall cleanliness

Perform clinical and research autopsies with precision and professionalism

Support surgical pathology and autopsy services, contributing to both routine and specialized tasks
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Pathologist Assistant Studies.

ASCP / AAPA Pathologist Assistant certification.
