SUMMARY
The Perioperative Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care as determined/delegated by the OR Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager or Anesthesia providers. Assists with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the nursing unit or Anesthesia services, based upon meeting patient or unit needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
*Transports patient as assigned.
*Performs surgical preps as ordered by physician.
*Transports blood products, specimens, supplies and equipment.
*Assists in patient positioning.
*Cleans operating rooms, scrub rooms, anesthesia equipment and work room, operating room equipment and storage rooms.
*Delivers medications (drugs or biologicals) received in the surgical suite to the appropriate operating room via case cart or medication cart; delivers anesthesia medications as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency required. Prior experience in a medical or operating room environment preferred. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required per Manager’s discretion.
