Position Title: AssociateDevelopment Officer, Leadership Giving

Position Classification: Regular;Exempt; Full-Time; 40 hours/Week

Reports To: Associate Director of Leadership Giving and Donor Relations

Location:Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S., or hybrid of these two options.

Position Type: Full-time

Position Overview

 

The Associate Development Officer (ADO), Leadership Giving, will cultivate, steward, and solicit a dynamic portfolio of Leadership (mid-level) donors, defined as individuals giving between $1,000 and $25,000 annually in at least one of the past two fiscal years. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Leadership Giving and Donor Relations, the ADO will design and execute a personalized donor communications and solicitation strategy for this portfolio with goals of increasing retention and upgrading donors to the major gift portfolio. Collaborating within the Leadership Giving team as well as with the Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Donor Engagement teams, the ADO will work to reach as many discovery donors as possible to qualify, cultivate, and upgrade. The ADO will partner closely with the Associate Engagement Officer to coordinate stewardship and communication to the Leadership Giving donors. The ADO will also work collaboratively within the Development department and with several other PIH teams, including Marketing & Communications, Development Operations, and country sites.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of mid-level donors by working with the senior manager to design and execute a targeted cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategy to enhance retention, grow revenue and improve donor advancement.
  • Build a strong funnel of donors for the Major Gifts team by reaching out to qualify, solicit, and upgrade as many donors as possible.
  • Work with the Planned Giving team to increase the number of legacy society members.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Engagement, Annual Giving, and Planned Giving teams to align donor outreach strategies.
  • Work closely with Development program liaisons and site teams to draft and send relevant updates using email, mail and phone. Ensure donors are kept connected and up-to-date on the work at Partners In Health (PIH). Determine new and effective ways to show appreciation for support and impact of gifts.
  • Work closely with the Associate Engagement Officer to provide appropriate cultivation, stewardship and communication to the mid-level standard donors with the goal of increasing retention.
  • Support the Leadership Giving and Annual Giving team in achieving their goals through donor outreach projects, such as calendar year end solicitation and stewardship outreach among others. Stay informed on PIH programs and projects to be able to discuss and share updates with donors.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our donor database, Salesforce, to update and maintain constituent data. Design and produce customized and personalized donor communications materials to help nurture and strengthen mid-level standard donors’ relationship with PIH. Work closely with the Stewardship team to help develop and facilitate production of new tools and materials.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), 2-3 years experience working in a professional nonprofit fundraising environment or other related industry.
  • Proven capabilities working with donors or clients, including experience soliciting gifts and executing donor stewardship and cultivation strategies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid computer skills in a PC environment. Excellent skills in the functional use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Working knowledge of Salesforce and/or experience with data management or customer relationship management systems a plus.
  • Customer service experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated maturity and good judgment to represent PIH in a highly professional manner and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated competence to assess priorities and manage a variety of competing tasks in a time-sensitive environment and to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed (10-20%).
  • Willing to work occasional nights/weekends for donor related events.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country.
  • Commitment to social justice strongly desirable.

Pay and Benefits
The expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $60,000-$62,000 and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $55,000-$65,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with employer match, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Full time employees will receive 15 days of vacation, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, and 3 volunteer days in addition to paid time off during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, the week of July 4th, and 11 additional holidays annually.
