Vector Borne Disease Research and Training Center (VBDRTC) in Hetauda, Nepal, was established in 1979 by the Government of Nepal with the following purpose: i) to perform research in vector borne disease prevention, control, diagnostics, therapeutic drug efficacy studies, entomology and vector control, ii) to train public health personnel in vector borne disease management, integrated vector management, malaria microscopy (Basic & Refresher), kala-azar elimination support, and iii) to conduct field level operational researches on vector borne diseases in Nepal. 

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has requested WHO to provide the support to enhance the capabilities of the VBDRTC with a vision of VBDRTC to serve as a national Center of Excellence in vector-borne diseases’ training and research in the country in the future. 

To this end, WHO is looking for a national expert, specialized in vector-borne disease training and research to support conducting an institutional capacity assessment of the VBDRTC and developing a national actionable short-, medium-, and long-term strategic plan based on findings from the assessment.
