Polymer Characterization Engineer – Project Management Polymer Materials Laboratory

The Product Design Polymers Team is looking for an experienced polymer characterization engineer/scientist with project management skills to join the Polymer Engineering group within Product Design department.
Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following:

• Perform polymer characterization techniques, such as rheology, DMA, FTIR, TGA, DSC, GPC, TMA, tensile testing, creep, fatigue, falling dart impact, chemical resistance testing, optical microscopy, laser interferometry and surface energy measurements. Ability to execute testing beyond standardized protocols (e.g. ASTM, ISO)

• Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
• Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate project status, challenges, and successes regularly to stakeholders, including senior management.
• Ensure all projects adhere to company policies, industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM), and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project documentation, including technical reports, specifications, and intellectual property disclosures.

Required:

• MS required, preferably in polymer chemistry or material science.
• Advanced knowledge of the structure-property relationships in polymers that govern mechanical performance, material aesthetics, and overall function
• experience using analytical test equipment mentioned above.
• Excellent housekeeping and lab management practices.
• 2+ years relevant experience in a project management or engineering management role with a diverse array of projects and timelines.
• Ability to collaborate with different teams including engineering, operations, business functions and external vendors, using influencing skills to drive decisions and meet specific deadlines

Desired:

• Experience in organizing, performing statistical analysis and presentation of material characterization data
• Proficiency with project management software Jira
