Post-Doctoral Research Position:
CTRL (Communication Technology Research Lab) at the University of Pittsburgh, a new project led by Dr. Samuel Woolley, is seeking a post-doctoral researcher. CTRL is looking for scholars with research and methodological experience working at the community level in close collaboration with members of various community groups. Ideally, candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas: digital politics, propaganda, mis-/dis-/mal information, social media studies, and/or internet research. The position requires expertise in qualitative methods—particularly ethnographic fieldwork and interviews. Some mixed-methods knowledge, particularly with computational social scientific methods, would be a plus but is not required.
Candidates should be available to travel internationally for research. They must have a track record of publication in reputable academic journals. They must have a doctorate in hand before starting the position. Ideally, they will have some experience writing for public audiences. The position will last one year from the start date, with the potential for an extension. Start times are negotiable, but the position must be filled by September 2025. The location is negotiable, but a home base in Pittsburgh is preferred.
