The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to advance healthcare research, rehabilitation, and evidence synthesis. This fellowship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge applications in AI and health sciences while gaining experience in an academic environment committed to innovation and societal impact.The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning and demonstrated experience in developing AI-driven web platforms. They should possess the ability to design and implement solutions aimed at managing and rehabilitating health conditions such as concussions, back pain, and headaches. A key responsibility will be to lead the development of these platforms and automate processes for systematic reviews using AI, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our health science initiatives. This is a one-year position with a chance for renewal. The annual salary is $50,000.Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • AI Integration: Design and implement AI tools to enhance health science applications, with a focus on rehabilitation and management platforms.
  • Platform Development: Lead the development of AI-driven web platforms for health conditions such as concussions, back pain, and headaches.
  • Systematic Review Automation: Develop AI solutions to automate evidence synthesis processes, improving accuracy and scalability.
  • Research Contribution: Conduct high-quality research and disseminate findings through publications and conferences.
  • Collaboration: Engage with interdisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and developers to align AI solutions with clinical needs.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance to graduate students and team members in relevant areas of AI and machine learning.

Required Education:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Required Qualifications:

  • Machine Learning Expertise: Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with data processing, web platform development and software engineering.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare AI Applications: Experience developing AI tools within the healthcare sector, particularly for rehabilitation.
  • Natural Language Processing (NLP): Familiarity with NLP techniques for systematic review automation and evidence synthesis.
  • Publication Record: A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields.
  • Healthcare Standards: Knowledge of healthcare data regulations and interoperability standards.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC.
