Dr. Badie Morsi is looking to fill a post-doctoral position in his lab.

The Responsibilities of the position are:

Perform advanced reactor and process engineering, including the modeling, simulation, and optimization of industrial-scale and modular-scale processes for CO2 capture using chemical and/or physical solvents.

Investigate chemical reaction rates and kinetics involving CO2 and other reactive gaseous species, such as H2S, SOx, and NOx, present in flue gas from post-combustion and oxy-combustion coal-fired power plants, as well as in fuel gas from pre-combustion systems like Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) and Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC).

Utilize process design and techno-economic analysis (TEA) tools to evaluate the performance and scalability of proposed technologies.

Develop and apply computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to simulate chemical processes.

Investigate the effects of these chemical reactions on the CO2 thermodynamics for safe transportation in pipelines.

Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for conferences and peer-reviewed journals.

Provide technical support and assistance as needed for the Annual International Pittsburgh Energy and Carbon Management Conference (PECMC).

Qualifications are:

Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.

Expertise in CO2 capture, process design, modeling, optimization, and scale-up using software such as Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Custom Modeler, and Aspen Adsorption.

Proficiency in empirical and CFD modeling using tools such as COMSOL and ANSYS.

Experience with additional software tools, including MATLAB, Python, SimaPro, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability to conduct research and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.

A strong publications record in relevant fields.
