We are now one of the UK’s largest health educators, where staff and students have access to an expanded team of brilliant academic and professional services colleagues, combined resources and facilities and more interdisciplinary opportunities.The merger creates opportunities to generate significant change in the world of healthcare including changes to treatment, population health monitoring, workforce development and leadership, policy, and advocacy.BackgroundThe Computational Neuroscience and Psychiatry Lab ( ) at City St George’s, University of London is looking for a Post Doctoral Research Fellow with a background in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience.The Lab focuses on developing new algorithms for the analysis of behavioral data and human and animal brain imaging data. Particular emphasis is put on applications in Computational Neuroscience and Psychiatry. The Lab develops brain theories that can explain brain function, using theoretical tools from deep neural networks and Bayesian brain theories. The lab also performs EEG recordings.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will need to use computational biophysical modelling of EEG data – recorded from rodent models of excitation and inhibitory circuit dysfunction. You will also need to examine commonalities and differences in EEG responses in each circuit dysfunction across three separate EEG paradigms. You will also need to test whether dynamic causal modelling can correctly infer the basic circuit dysfunction, and if necessary update the model so that it can.Person SpecificationThe successful candidate i required to have a PhD(or close to completing one) in computer science, maths, engineering, psychology, computational neuroscience, engineering or a related field.
