This is a one-year funded position, renewable once. The anticipated start date is April 1, 2025 – or a date to be mutually agreed upon that is no later than September 1, 2025.This position will be based in the Centre for Health Education Scholarship (CHES) in the UBC Faculty of Medicine. CHES provides a community of health professional education researchers from diverse specialties and disciplines, each engaged in collaborative inquiry regarding the many dimensions of health professions education, including: admissions, representation of marginalized groups, conceptualizing professionalism, identity formation, assessment, feedback and the teacher-learner relationships. To promote the success of the potential candidate’s developing research career, the position offers maximal protected time for research, assistance in grant capture, and opportunities for productive research collaborations, while also offering opportunities for teaching through work with master’s students, PhD students, and clinical fellows linked to our Centre. The Fellow will receive mentorship in conducting and disseminating research in health professions education and funds to attend professional conferences. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be integrated into the innovation and research enterprises of the Centre, ensuring a rich environment for fostering excellence in health professions education research.The successful candidate will contribute to fostering an environment that promotes compassion and inclusivity. The Postdoctoral Fellow will receive mentorship from faculty that have sustained success in grant writing, publication, and graduate student supervision. This mentorship will enable the Postdoctoral Fellow to develop a research program aligned with their interests and allow them to nurture, publish and present their own independent research. On completion of the fellowship, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be well-prepared for a tenure track faculty or equivalent position.Please see the and to explore potential subject areas, faculty supervisors, collaborators, and mentors with whom the successful applicant might engage.ELIGIBILITYCHES seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow who is interested in entering or remaining in the field of health professions education research. To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must have completed a PhD program in a discipline relevant to the study of health professions education (such as education, social sciences, and humanities) at a recognized university by the start date.If the successful candidate has yet to defend, documentation will be required to confirm that defense will be completed before the fellowship start date. All eligible applicants will be considered.Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following characteristics:1. Excellent academic training with creative and collaborative approaches to research.2. Skills, expertise, and interest that will enhance CHES research activities.3.
