A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tulane University based in the historic Uptown New Orleans. The successful candidate will join the research groups of Drs. Pourtaheri and Papadopoulos, working at the interface of biomaterials, drug delivery, and neuroscience. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to developing and optimizing platforms for drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS), with a focus on overcoming physiological barriers such as the blood–brain barrier and mucosal barriers through two active projects funded by the NIH and J&B Device and Equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. PhD in a Biological Science, Material Science, Biomolecular Engineering, or other related field.
2. Demonstrated experience in one or several of the following areas: material science, biotechnology, biomedicine, cell biology and culture, animal surgery, or drug delivery approaches.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by prior presentations and publications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Familiarity with colloid science
2. Familiarity with bacterial protocols
3. Strong background in cell biology, including intracellular trafficking and cell compartmentalization.
4. Hands-on experience with staining and imaging approaches, such as immunostaining, confocal microscopy, or fluorescent labeling.
