Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a Prudence Trust funded research programme, led by Dr Lucy Foulkes, examining mental health interventions in secondary schools. In this role, the candidate will focus specifically on a project exploring self-diagnosis of mental health problems in adolescents. The post is based in the Department of Experimental Psychology in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter in Oxford. The post is full time however consideration would be given to candidates wishing to work part time (minimum 60% FTE), on a pro rata basis, with a commensurate reduction in duties.The post is for a fixed term (funded for 12 months).The University has introduced a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 a year (pro rata) for all staff on grades 1-10 of the main salary and grading structure, which will be implemented in the September 2024 payroll.The candidate will primarily be involved in collecting and analysing qualitative data relating to adolescent mental health (including interviews and large-scale qualitative datasets). They will manage their own academic research activities and contribute ideas for new research projects.The candidate will have or be close to completion of a PhD/DPhil in psychology, and will have specialist knowledge of adolescent mental health and/or school-based mental health interventions. With an aptitude and enthusiasm for qualitative methodology, they will have experience of contributing to qualitative research projects, from project design through to data collection, analysis and write-up. Experience of collecting data from adolescents, for example in schools, would be desirable.The candidate must be able to work in-person in the Department of Experimental Psychology in Oxford at least two days a week (or one day a week for part-time candidates), with occasional additional in-person meetings.Applicants will be required to upload a supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.The closing date for the post is midday on 16th September 2024.£36,024 to £37,099 per annum (Grade 7)
