Applicants are required to submit a current CV and cover letter.Building on its research strengths in flooding and community engagement research, the University of Hull is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Water Data For People to work in the internationally renowned Energy and Environment Institute (EEI) in Collaboration with the Doncaster Immingham and Grimsby (DIG) surface water resilience project. We are seeking a researcher with expertise in using participatory approaches to work with people and communities or experience of science communication with different audiences and some knowledge and understanding of hydrological processes and/or water issues. You will join colleagues working in the University’s SuDSLab which is a unique initiative to measure hydrology, water flows and water quality and to use the data to improve water management and also engage and enthuse communities in water issues. The postholder will help lead an active research programme to develop and deliver public engagement activities with schools and communities. S/he will devise, organise and manage activities, engaging proactively with stakeholders, schools and communities to communicate project aims, monitor progress and report outcomes. The research will also include evaluating the effectiveness and impact of the engagement activities and it is expected that the postholder will contribute significantly to dissemination and publication of the research findings. You will work closely with colleagues in the EEI, Faculty of Science and Engineering and external partners from the Doncaster, Immingham Grimsby (DIG) Surface Water Resilience Project (which includes Local Authorities, Water Companies and the Environment Agency). You will help deliver the Water Data for People programme, lead co-authored publications and presentations; deliver KE activities; and write reports and policy briefs.The postholder will work at the Energy and Environment Institute, an internationally-leading transdisciplinary institute, focused on research exploring the impacts of climate change on environments, societies and cultures, and the pathways for a global transition to a carbon net zero future. The institute has a vision to become an internationally recognised center for research into the interfaces between energy and environmental resilience; focusing on global sustainability and delivering research that makes a difference. With a PhD in a relevant discipline or significant experience in education and/or science communication in a research context, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, talented and with a passion for water issues, building strong external partnerships, and public engagement.For further information about the Energy and Environment Institute visit:Interviews are expected to be held during week commencing mid October 2024.
