Fahrenheit Advisors, a Smith + Howard Company, seeks a dynamic and experienced Practice Director of Human Capital Consulting to lead and expand our Human Capital practice in the Atlanta, GA market. This pivotal role combines strategic leadership, business development, and team management to deliver exceptional Human Capital solutions to a diverse client base, including middle-market clients. As a key contributor to the firm’s growth, you will collaborate with Fahrenheit’s Human Capital Practice Leadership in Richmond, Virginia, and Business Development and Delivery teams in Atlanta, Georgia, to lead the closing of HCC engagements and ensure execution of projects that align with our clients’ needs and goals.

Role Overview:
As the Practice Director of Human Capital Consulting, you will play a pivotal role in collaborating with the Human Capital Consulting Practice Leader and the Atlanta office to drive the growth, operations, and performance of our Human Capital practice. Based in Atlanta, GA, this role offers a unique opportunity to establish the Fahrenheit brand and expand our presence in a dynamic and growing market. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Business Development Support: Close deals, scope and price projects, and write proposals to support our sales efforts.
- Actively engage in client-facing consulting work, contributing as a billable consultant (as needed) to deliver fractional, interim, and project-based services that address client needs.
- Project Management: Oversee project budgets, timelines, and ensure quality execution.
- Team Leadership: Staff projects effectively and manage team performance to achieve exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
Growth and Business Development Support
- Lead and support the entire lifecycle of client engagements, including scoping, pricing, proposal writing, and closing deals to secure new business opportunities.
- Manage the delivery of fractional, interim, and project-based services across key Human Capital areas.
- Collaborate with the Business Development and Delivery teams to drive Human Capital sales efforts in the Atlanta market and expand local and national client portfolios.
Team Management
- Build, lead, and expand a high-performing team of HR consultants in the Atlanta area.
- Oversee performance management and professional development of team members, acting as both mentor and leader.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
Project Oversight
- Oversee project execution, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and the highest quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and timelines, making necessary adjustments to meet client and firm objectives.
- Implement best practices in project management to optimize efficiency and client satisfaction.
Individual Leadership
- Take ownership of and actively contribute to client engagements, delivering high-quality HR consulting areas of HR to include:
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, leveraging deep expertise in Human Capital solutions to address client challenges.
- Establish a strong brand within HR consulting field through active participation in professional organizations, speaking engagements, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Continuously, refine consulting methodologies and approaches to align with industry best practices and client needs.
- Establish and pursue personal development goals that align with both personal growth and the practice’s strategic objectives.
Organizational Leadership
- Foster seamless collaboration and alignment between the Fahrenheit office in Richmond, Virginia, and Smith + Howard in Atlanta, Georgia, ensuring consistent communication and adherence to organizational goals.
- Uphold and promote Fahrenheit’s Core Principles.
- Act as a vocal advocate for the organization, with an emphasis on building the Fahrenheit brand.
- Support and drive the firm’s strategic initiatives, contributing to its overall growth and success.
- Support thought leadership efforts within the firm and the broader HR community.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in HR, or related) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Capital consulting or a similar field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Demonstrated success in business development, including scoping and pricing projects, writing proposals, and collaborating with others to secure client engagements.
- Proven track record of managing and growing a team of consultants or HR professionals.
- Extensive experience with middle-market clients, delivering both fractional and project-based services. Private Equity experience is a plus.
- HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is preferred.
