This employer is looking to strengthen their team further with the appointment of a Preconstruction Manager to tender on a range of Industrial & Distribution projects.DUTIES:You will be one of a close knit team of Preconstruction Managers, reporting into the Preconstruction Director, your duties will include:Bid Strategy & Submission
- Decide on the structure and content of the submission (based on the Employers Requirements) and communicate tender document format and submission requirements to Business Development Support.
- Co-ordinate and organise different disciplines required for submission and inform them of requirements and the dates the information is required.
- Write the Contractor’s Proposals.
- Review the completed submission document prior to submission.
- Co-ordinate and attend any Mid Tender Interviews and lead presentation as required.
- Co-ordinate distribution (to internal team and any relevant consultants) of any Tender Addendums received during the Tender Period (Estimator will arrange distribution to the Sub-Contract Supply Chain).
- Arrange internal tender review meetings as required.
- Attend & explain scheme at the Tender Settlement meeting.
Technical
- Review Tender Documents for missing information and request as necessary.
- With Estimator ensure there is sufficient information to price the works.
- Prepare and collate RFI’s with Client / Designers as required
- Respond to any technical queries raised by sub-contractors
- Carry out review of ground conditions and arrange geo-technical / environmental advice where required.
- Arrange further SI if required.
- Get Staf Surv to carry out an earthworks model and optimise levels as far as possible (accounting for drainage and foundation arisings).
- Assess risk and opportunities.
- Review any buildability issues.
- Assess and obtain additional consultant input as required (Part L/ SBEM, Overheating Calculations, Acoustic, Building Regs, Fire Engineering etc).
- Review scheme for boundary conditions and fire protection requirements.
Commercial
- Obtain fee proposals as required
- Carry out technical review of design sub-contract quotations
- Investigate Value Engineering Opportunities & with Estimator / Planner incorporate into the scheme as appropriate.
Programme
- Assist in preparation of programme as required by Planner and review tender programme & prelims.
Post Tender
- Manage / respond to any Post Tender Questions / Clarifications negotiations
- Co-ordinate and attend any Post Tender Interviews
- Arrange and Chair the Tender Handover Meeting
- Offer support as necessary to the Site Team
REQUIREMENTS:To be considered for this Preconstruction Manager role you must meet the following criteria:– Knowledge of Building Sector.
– Previous employment as a Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Site Manager, Site Agent, Site Engineer, Design Co-ordinator, D&B Coordinator, D&B Manager, Design Manager, Bid Manager, Preconstruction Manager or similar.-Will also consider candidates that have worked on other general build construction projects
– Previous Main Contractor employment ideal.
– High level of communication and writing skills.
– Relevant industry qualification (Degree / HND / HNC etc).-Site Engineering background would be ideal but not essential.LOCATION: Northamptonshire office, with some remote work also available.REMUNERATION:The successful Preconstruction Manager will receive:*Competitive Basic (Dependant on experience)
