Role purpose
The Principal, is the head of the CSC practice in Japan and is a highly visible position, with core responsibility for leading a small team, delivering a broad range of security consulting, management, and services engagements, and developing deep and profitable client relationships. Engagements will include complex security risk management and governance, security response, protective services, security audits in Japan, and across the Asia Pacific region, coordinating with counterparts in our offices worldwide.
This position will play an important role in generating opportunities with new and existing clients by leveraging existing resources as well as building new capabilities.
Success in this role means building a larger and sustainable business, focused on domestic revenue whilst supporting outbound planning and advice as and when required. Core service offerings include business continuity, crisis management, security risk management and security services.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Working closely with existing resources in the market, generate commercial opportunities with new and existing clients for security risk management consulting and governance, crisis management, security reviews, audits and resilience, protective services and embedded consulting.
- Project manage and, utilising a regional team of consultants and experts, deliver the full range of security consulting and services engagements across Japan, and across Asia if and when required.
- Represent Control Risks as a thought leader through market engagement via channels such as social media, professional organizations and industry events.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and ensure quality and consistency in service delivery.
- Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, and position Control Risks’ security practice as the leading security consultancy and services provider in the region.
- Work collaboratively with country management, marketing teams and other practices to develop a consistent, credible and highly visible brand.
- Lead, motivate and develop high-performing consultants.
- Seek innovative ways to improve the services we offer to clients.
- Take ownership of the CSC Japan P&L, and drive a practice focused on trading profits and margins. Support regional management with financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, and constantly strive for ways to improve the commercial performance of the practice.
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- 10+ years’ experience in security management, security response and security services, including experience at a senior level working in management consulting developing a practice and running a P&L.
- Client engagement, business development, sales and marketing experience, with a consistent demonstrated track record of deepening client relationships.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a broad range of other subject-matter and country-specific experts; working as part of a team to scope, pitch and resolve complex client issues.
- Demonstrated experience incorporating new technology into consulting solutions; being innovative to resolve clients’ issues; productizing key offerings.
Preferred
- Professional certification and/or accreditation in security management, and or business continuity.
- Experience in crisis management, risk management and business continuity would be an additional advantage.
- A network of clients and contacts across the Japan geo-market.
