Principal Engineer

Iteris is looking for a Principal Engineer who will be responsible for performing professional engineering work in the development of plans, design, traffic operations, signal systems management and operations, preparation of reports, budget estimates, and can lead business development efforts within the region. The position will also require regular coordination with contractors, public agencies, and consultants. Responsibilities will include representing Iteris at project status meetings with clients and vendors/contractors.

What you will be doing:

• Transportation improvement design including traffic control, signing & marking, traffic signal design, and ITS
• Construction phasing and maintenance of traffic design
• Corridor operations and traffic signal timing
• Traffic modeling and forecasting
• Bus rapid transit operations
• Signal systems management and operations
• Corridor studies
• Staffing and operations planning and budget forecasting
• Lead business development efforts
• Position will require in-office work to partner with clients, contractors, and agency staff
• Responsibilities will include representing the company at project meetings with clients and vendors/contractors
• Position will require regular coordination with contractors, public agencies, and consultant; as well as, participation in transportation industry professional organizations

What you need to be successful in this role:

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering/Transportation preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering required
• Current Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification
• Ability to obtain Georgia PE within 3 months of hire
• Over ten (10) years of experience with Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Construction Phasing, Maintenance of Traffic, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Signal Systems and Operations
• Over five (5) years of experience working with Federal, State, and Local Municipalities
• Over five (5) years of experience managing projects and/or programs for public agencies
• Proficiency with ProjectWise and MicroStation
• Design-Build Experience
• Experience with traffic signal timing (TOD – Time of Day – coordination, traffic responsive, adaptive)
• Experience with traffic simulation software such as VISSIM

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $141,800 and $157,900 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
