Process Engineer – Tempering – Meadville, PA

VITRO, the #1 manufacturer and distributor of automotive glass in North America has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer – Tempering. This position will be located at our float glass plant in Meadville, PA and is a Salaried Exempt position.

This position is responsible for the design and implementation of our tempering processes. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing process strategies, managing process resources, optimizing current processes, and maintaining process documents. To become an expert with regards to production equipment, understand how to operate, change the settings, and optimize the equipment. Ultimately, the job is to maintain the efficiency of production in order to reduce costs.

The incumbent works independently under the direction of the Value Stream Manager. The incumbent develops practical Engineering solutions to problems arising in everyday operation or in a project. The incumbent may have contract with vendors, contractors, and Public Utilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The incumbent must have a positive can-do attitude.
2. Provide quick response, 24 Hours a day, 365 days a year to Emergencies.
3. Meeting with production managers to assess existing processes.
4. Drafting process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates.
5. Performing risk assessments.
6. Designing and testing process upgrades and new process systems.
7. Ensuring processes comply with safety and quality standards.
8. Performing process simulations and troubleshooting issues.
9. Performing optimization tests.
10. Developing routines and best practices to ensure product quality.
11. Developing standardized operating instructions for the upgrades process.
12. Providing the Value Stream Manager with process documents and standard operating procedures.
13. Monitoring upgrades to the systems.
