Process Technician – Tempering – Meadville, PA

VITRO, the #1 manufacturer and distributor of automotive glass in North America has an immediate opening for a Process Technician – Tempering. This position will be located at our float glass plant in Meadville, PA and is a Salaried Exempt position.

This position is responsible to ensure efficient integrated factory operations through coordinated team activities. Responsible for supporting and advising the tempering line supervisors. Incumbent helps coordinate the efficient scheduling of materials, manpower, administers safety, 5s, ISO 14001, and training programs to maximize performance.

The incumbent’s principal accountabilities include:

Helps coordinate tempering operations

Coordinates Grinder Wheel changes and TPM activities

Maintains availability of consumable parts

Measures and adjusts key coolant water system parameters

Backup for supervisor

Manpower scheduling and coordination with supervisors

Lean Manufacturing and 5s practices

Assist in hiring requirements and scheduling preferences

Implement and oversee training programs

Scheduling of downtime for maintenance PM’s and repairs

Updating and reviewing procedures

Injury reduction and accident prevention including investigation,

Meet and exceed industrial hygiene requirements and processes,

Maintain compliance with all OSHA and Vitro health and safety regulations and requirements.

ISO 14001 Auditor

The incumbent must possess specialized or technical knowledge in combination with a broad understanding of manufacturing and EHS practices. The incumbent possesses complex problem solving skills, project management skills, multi-tasking, and the ability to motivate others in cooperative effort. He/she interacts with all levels of the organization on a daily basis. In addition to frequent contact with plant personnel, the incumbent is in frequent contact with raw material suppliers, as well as the other manufacturing locations and corporate staff.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent manufacturing experience required
