RESPONSIBILITIES
Weatherford is hiring a Production Engineering Consultancy Manager for our corporate office in Houston, TX.

The Production Engineering Consultancy Manager combines strong consulting and people skills with specialized technical knowledge to recommend solutions that address client challenges relating to upstream production management. The Manager plays a key role in developing client accounts by actively leading client projects to deliver targeted Answer Products and identifying additional revenue-generating opportunities. Team management, critical thinking skills, and sales skills are essential for success in this role. The Manager should be able to perform technical tasks independently and must be able to fulfill the role of technical lead and manage the consulting services team. The individual should be able to comprehend and explain the inputs such as data & assumptions, workflow, results & recommendations with the client, and the implications/impact of these on operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical leadership, supervisory, and management for the delivery of consulting solutions.
- Lead and manage the Production Engineering consulting team in assigning tasks and project responsibilities.
- Provide the client interface support for all solutions and services the team provides.
- Provide technical sales support for all production-related products and solutions including but not limited to artificial lift, field-specific electronics hardware (gauges and well site controller systems), production optimization software, modelling software tools, and production optimization consulting.
- Assist with the development of consulting solution workflows/concepts to solve client challenges in the production domain.
- Manage/assist multidisciplinary teams. Provide technical leadership to multi-disciplinary projects. The candidate should have a good understanding of the reservoir, well, and surface network modelling concepts, and of software packages used in each discipline.
- Proficiency in all Production Engineering tasks expected from Senior Consultant such as but not limited to:
- Review all available engineering data to define objectives, strategy, and limitations for production optimization study.
- Define/develop the production philosophy for optimal production i.e. select well configuration for natural flow, decide the timing and type of artificial lift technologies to be implemented
- Design, spec. & implement, monitor, and optimization of artificial lift methods such as Rod Lift, Gas Lift, ESP, etc.
- Failure management review including analysis of pump, tubing, surface equipment issues, root cause analysis, failure mitigation recommendations, etc.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software tools related to artificial lift design, equipment selection and performance monitoring.
- Experience with digital oil field technologies for operational support, performance monitoring and production optimization
- Experience with workflows for production allocation, optimal production rate estimation, well health review, and identifying optimization targets and root cause analysis for well and surface network.
- Experience with defining completion strategies, performing production allocation, and selecting reservoir and surface conditions for reliable production forecasting
- Perform the economic evaluation to select the optimal development strategy
- Experience of providing solutions to address challenges under primary recovery; secondary recovery including water flood, gas injection; and EOR methods.
- Experience of implementing digital oil field technology for real-time production optimization, production accounting, well management, etc.
- Experience in performing flow assurance studies for reliable surface network operation
- Proficiency with industry-standard production engineering tools.
- Generate, maintain, and manage the demo stories for Weatherford Software Products and drive demos to showcase System capabilities, workflows, and features.
- Prepare proposals and bids for all services being offered in the production domain. Review client tenders and proposals. Negotiate details and project scope as needed to create a mutually beneficial and profitable transaction. Address client concerns and objections in a manner that reduces tension or potential areas of conflict.
- Manage, plan, and monitor one or more large-scale client projects simultaneously – whether large in size, region, or economic impact to facilitate Petroleum consulting team activities.
- Work with a team and the client, advising on data as needed to estimate production potential, and determine the best artificial lift strategy to maximize production and minimize costs through the life of the well. Identify potential issues for the client, form hypotheses based on technical data or simulations and present solutions or alternatives to the client.
- Prepare reports and presentations based on technical review and interpretation. Deliver answer product recommendations to clients in order to generate new business in alignment with global business objectives and local technical strategy. Introduce additional options, technology or services that can be provided by Weatherford product lines in order to generate revenue. Connect professionals to the project as needed and oversee execution of services.
- Facilitate pre and post-sale client sessions that determine needs/challenges, address client questions, manage expectations and resolve concerns in order to exceed clients’ expectations and meet internal quality, time and budget constraints.
- Lead, mentor and train junior level technical professionals and consultants. Consult internally on improvement criteria, learning and competence standards and domain development.
- Utilize time management skills to schedule, prioritize and manage projects, taking into account resources, client/management expectations, budget constraints and availability of personnel – both within the team and from other groups.
- Develop solutions to technical problems. Make decisions based on industry standards and past experience, in compliance with Weatherford policy. Define necessary protocols for seeking advice on challenges falling outside of normal procedures.
- Remain current on industry regulations, developments and the technical community. Contribute to the global technical society in thought leadership exercises and advisory boards.
- Complete all mandatory training, as assigned, including the required HSE training, in compliance with corporate and business unit guidelines. Maintain an acceptable HSE record.
- Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
- Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
- Work assignments are carried out to the highest quality level.
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
QUALIFICATION
Essential:
- Bachelor/Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering / relevant engineering from a recognized university
- Minimum 10 years of functional experience post MS/PHD. Add 5 years with BS only
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Able to work independently with infrequent supervision
- Experience in customer success management or customer engagement programs.
- Experience in providing demos and Production Software presentations.
- The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
- Availability for frequent domestic travel with no restrictions up to 25%
Preferred:
- 5 years at the supervisory level.
- Consulting experience related to the design, implementation, or monitoring of a digital oil field solution
- Experience evaluating the performance of wells under natural flow and artificial lift
- Experience with industry-standard Production software for Nodal Analysis, Gas lift design, ESP design, Rod Pump design.
- Advanced functional knowledge of all Weatherford standard software programs required for the specific technical domains.
- Strong background in crafting and delivering proposals.
