Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning and coordinating packaging development projects. In this role, you will facilitate the design lifecycle for rigid plastic containers and related blow molds, injection molds and tooling. While working with internal teams to determine project needs & technical feasibility, you will also have the opportunity to interface with many of our world-class customers to ensure their standards and expectations are met before products are sent to production.

You Will:

• Lead both design engineering and cross functional teams, ensuring assigned project goals and objectives are achieved.
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
• Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within the company and customer.
• Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
• Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
• Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Manage and control expenditures within limitations of project budget.

You Have:

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working on product development projects; prototype experience preferred.
• Experience with plastics or injection/blow design preferred.
• Proficient use of related computer software, i.e.: SAP, MS Word, Excel and Google Suite apps.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to operate as an effective leader and representative of Plastipak.
• Ability to travel (10-20%).
