Project Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Michael Baker International is currently seeking a Project Engineer for our Ocean Springs, MS office. The Project Engineer will be involved with a variety of Civil Engineering projects including drainage, utilities, coastal, and aviation. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of all phases of the project including planning, design, and construction management. You will have the opportunity to participate the administration of contracts and follow through with the construction of major and municipal public works projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Perform technical reviews and develop written reports for new subdivision and commercial developments in accordance with Zoning and Subdivision Regulations.
• Perform civil engineering designs for transportation, stormwater, and utility infrastructure projects under the guidance of a registered professional engineer.
• Develop project and construction cost estimates for civil design projects.
• Provide construction management duties under the guidance of the Project Managers.
• Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, and bid openings for construction projects.
• Participate in client progress meetings for various types of project.
• Coordinate and communicate design requirements with technicians to ensure timely and accurate document and drawing preparation. 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License in Mississippi.
• Ability to obtain Professional Engineering License in Mississippi within a 2-year period.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously and assist in the preparation of reports, plans and designs for projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Experience with design related software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, Open Roads or similar type design software.Quality Assurance/Quality Control compliance experience.MDOT LPA experience or knowledge preferred.
