:With the continued growth in the Canadian Rail and Transit sector, Gannett Fleming is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Track Engineer to oversee and manage track engineering projects.This dual role is ideal for dynamic candidates seeking a balance of project management and technical work.You will be joining a collection of Transit and Rail experts providing professional services to Freight, Industrial, and Transit clients across North America.The successful candidate will be responsible for client and design-team management, coordinating planning and design processes, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Client and Design-Team Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication channels and successful collaboration.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate planning, design, and construction activities, ensuring the successful execution of projects from inception to completion.
- Technical Leadership: Utilize your technical expertise to develop plans, specifications, and construction estimate packages. Apply advanced skills in value engineering, cost estimating, risk assessment, and scheduling.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expert opinions, deliver high-level reports, and present to diverse stakeholders.
- Project Management: Manage all aspects of the project, including scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, staff management, quality control, and cash management.
- Track Infrastructure Design: Lead the design and development for various transit systems, including urban transit, intercity transit, and heavy rail.
- Track Design Preparation: Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Project Coordination and Management: Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams and data environments to ensure efficient collaboration.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Execute thorough quality review processes for project submittals to maintain high standards.
- Budget and Schedule Management: Actively manage the client’s budget, schedule,and program for efficient resource allocation and adherence to project timelines.
- Timely Project Delivery: Ensure the delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop the technical and non-technical skillsets of junior track staff.
- Proposal: Contribute to and assist with the preparation of proposals.
:QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university (Civil Engineering preferred).
- Professional Engineer Designation (P. Eng.) is required.
- 8+ years of progressive track engineering and design experience in planning, designing, managing, and implementing rail and transit-related projects.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and development of Class I Railways, LRT, or Commuter Rail, including rail alignments, rail yards, special trackwork, junctions, and facilities.
- Understanding of track design relationships with systems engineering, drainage/SWM, structures, and utilities.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of Local Agency Codes and Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Experience with Autodesk Civil3D and/or Bentley OpenRail preferred. MicroStation and InRoads/Rail Track (InRail) experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and high accuracy in work.
- Experience in design-build environments.
- Ability to work independently.
