- Position Title: Projects Coordinator
- Reports to: Director of Programs, AWO
- Contract Type: Full-time, starting March 2025
- Location: Amman, Jordan (with regular field visits to Mafraq, Irbid, and other project locations)
Introduction
The Arab Women Organization (AWO) is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled project coordinator to lead the implementation and oversight of transformative projects that address gender-based violence (GBV), disability inclusion, child protection, and the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda (WPSA). The Projects Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of these initiatives by leveraging strong project management expertise, fostering collaborative partnerships, and upholding AWO’s commitment to creating inclusive and equitable solutions for vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Project Management
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects.
- Develop and monitor detailed work plans, budgets, and timelines for each project, ensuring alignment with objectives, donor requirements, and organizational priorities.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones, leveraging resources effectively and ensuring accountability for results.
2. Leadership and Capacity Building
- Provide technical guidance to AWO staff, local CSOs, CBOs, and community leaders involved in project implementation, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety and security standards.
- Facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including thematic trainings and workshops, for project stakeholders.
- Mentor and supervise project teams, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
- Act as the primary liaison between AWO and key stakeholders, including donors, implementing partners, government entities, and community organizations.
- Represent AWO in coordination meetings, working groups, and advocacy platforms to promote the organization’s mission and amplify the voices of women, girls, and vulnerable groups.
- Lead the design and implementation of advocacy campaigns addressing GBV, disability rights, and the WPSA, ensuring culturally sensitive and impactful messaging.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Oversee the development and operationalization of robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks in collaboration with the M&E expert, ensuring data-driven decision-making and accountability.
- Track progress against project indicators, identify challenges and propose solutions to enhance performance and impact.
- Prepare high-quality narrative reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and final) for submission to donors, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with reporting guidelines.
5. Fundraising and Proposal Development
- Contribute to the development of funding proposals, concept notes, and strategic partnerships to sustain and expand AWO’s programs.
- Identify opportunities for new projects and partnerships that align with AWO’s mission and address emerging needs in Jordan and the MENA region.
- Ensure that fundraising efforts are informed by lessons learned and the priorities of women, girls, and marginalized communities.
6. Operational Oversight and Risk Management
- Ensure that all project activities comply with legal, ethical, and safety standards, including safeguarding policies for vulnerable populations.
- Proactively manage risks related to project implementation, maintaining contingency plans to address challenges and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Regularly assess and address operational needs, including resource allocation, logistics, and stakeholder coordination.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Advanced training in project management or M&E is an asset.
Experience
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in managing multi-donor projects, focusing on GBV, child protection, disability inclusion, women’s empowerment, WPSA, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325).
- Previous experience in leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder initiatives, including those funded by international donors.
- In-depth understanding of Jordan’s socio-cultural, political, and legal context and the broader MENA region.
Skills
- Project management skills, including budgeting, planning, and resource management.
- Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
- Expertise in proposal writing, advocacy, and fundraising.
- Proficiency in using project management and data analysis tools.
- Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
