Description

The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates who exceed the requirements and qualifications for the role. Position Overview: The PEIMS Reporting Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) Reporting Unit. Reporting to the Director of Information Analysis in the Division of Research and Analysis, this role involves managing data systems analysis, gathering requirements, creating reports and files, and ensuring quality assurance and documentation for all data-related products.

Key responsibilities include supervising the development and validation of complex SAS programs, providing consulting services to clients for information requests, and ensuring that project timelines are met. The manager also supports other departments by offering analytical expertise and unit support as needed.

Additionally, the PEIMS Reporting Unit Manager oversees the deployment of PEIMS Standard Reports and Discipline Data Products via web reporting systems. This includes conducting analysis, report development, quality assurance, and deployment.

This role involves establishing goals and objectives, creating guidelines and policies, and setting schedules and standards to meet these objectives. The manager will also be responsible for hiring, planning, supervising, and evaluating team members’ work, as well as coordinating efforts with other divisions.

The position requires minimal supervision and provides extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Functions

1. Data Request Completion: Manages the timely completion of data reports and files by communicating with customers and overseeing the programming, quality assurance and release of the requested data.

2. Production of Web Reports: Oversees the development and deployment of two web reporting systems by scheduling and assigning tasks and reviewing the final products. 

3. Accuracy of products: Ensures data products are accurate and complete by developing and promoting programming standards and thorough quality assurance processes. 

4. Project Documentation: Oversees the timely completion of project documentation. 

5. Management and Supervision: Oversees planning and coordination of projects and guides staff to accomplish them on time; promotes opportunities for staff growth and development; and ensures administrative tasks (e.g., completing T&E, approving leave, conducting performance management tasks, managing staff hiring) are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in project management or equivalent experience managing or supervising professional or technical staff in data science, analysis, or processing. At least three (3) years of experience in SAS programming required.
  • Substitution: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
