Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Station Postal registry team at RAF High Wycombe. We are looking for an active and adaptable team player, to join our experienced and friendly team. 

This role is responsible to Officer Commanding Station Support Services (OC SSF) and in turn Officer Commanding Base Support Squadron (OC BSS).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

  • Oversee the postal team to ensure they are undertaking their day-to-day duties in an efficient manner.
  • Deal with customer complaints and queries as required. Report finding to LM as required.
  • Act as the unit postal orderly.
  • Provide assurance mail is being handled in application with IAW, JSP 367 & 440.
  • Provide support and guidance to customers on correct and most cost effective way to dispatch mail. Operation of Royal Mail online Business account.
  • Act as the workplace Radiation Supervisor, ensuring all relevant training is undertaken for Post room.
  • Manage and co-ordinate all administrative tasks for completion of F102’s and management of onsite archive facility.
  • Cover for other team members in their absence, task and duties to include collecting of official mail from Royal Mail, meeting couriers, and onward sorting of all mail and parcels.
  • Be a super user to enable updating of SharePoint sites.
  • Be Health and Safety point of contact including the collation of mandatory risk assessment, and Annual Audit.
  • Undertake any other administrative duties appropriate to grade and role.

Person specification

We are looking for a self motivated and adaptable individual, who is able to multi task. The individual must have excellent communication skills, conflict management experience, good time management, be able to prioritise their own workload and work autonomously at times. Experience working within a Customer facing environment is essential. At times the role can be physically demanding, it is imperative you are able to undertake manual handling and have a good level of fitness. 

The use of IT systems including SharePoint sites, MS Teams, O365 applications, a good standard of IT.

Working hours are between 0800-1600 dependent on the business needs. Application of the flexible working scheme needs to take this into account. This is an office based role.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
