| position Highlights | The University of Arizona’s Steward Observatory invites applicants for the position of R&D Systems Engineer II. The selected candidate will apply known systems engineering theories and principals in support of the goals of the University of Arizona’s Principal Investigators and their programs, which will entail working on large mirror and telescope cell interfaces. | Duties & Responsibilities | Analyze, develop, and review process/production requirements for assigned projects which may include:
Contribute to the development of a technical solution which meets the requirements by analyzing the impact of any proposed design changes, identify discrepancies, and providing mitigation suggestions as needed.
Produce a variety of models to accurately manage, verify, and communicate engineering data to scientists and engineers. Supports system and subsystem integration efforts, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs), for mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal interfaces. Provide documentation of risk management activities, action items, and closure at stakeholder meetings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
