Summary You will serve as a Records and Information Management Specialist in the Service Treatment Records Unit (STRU), Records and Performance Section (MMPB-2), Manpower Management Performance Branch (MMPB), Manpower Management Division (MM), Manpower & Reserve Affairs Department (M& RA) of HQ US MARINE CORPS. Responsibilities You will retrieve Service Treatment Record Unit (STRU) mail from designated pickup locations aboard the installation and transport mail to the STRU for further processing by the STR contract team. You will verify the data integrity of package contents and initiate containment and reporting actions. You will oversee shipments of audited physical records approved for destruction or travel to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) for long-term storage. You will aid STRU contract personnel in obtaining access to Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems that are required for the processing of STRs. You will account for and purchase STRU consumable supplies and services through approved procurement processes that are required to support the STRU contract team. You will receive STR report lists from the DoD, DHA, and VA, determine the required tasks, and in coordination with the supervisor, set work priorities for STR processing. You will triage, manage, process, and report on priority cases for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and external stakeholders as required by policy. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following: 1) Analyzing and interpreting regulatory, policy, and legal issues related to records management to ensure compliance with established standards; 2) Developing summaries of case facts derived from records management process to provide understanding of case record history; and 3) Identifying and evaluating critical components from records to ensure pertinent details are included in case assessments and processing. Additional Information The work involves a moderate amount of sitting and walking, lifting boxes that weigh approximately 30 lbs. May require a physical. Manual dexterity is required in operation of personal computers and other office machines. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
