Summary

Responsible for assisting with processing congregate meal participants, ensuring sanitary and safe conditions for food preparation and serving areas. Also responsible for collecting data, compiling information, and preparation of daily and monthly reports.

Salary Range: $15.03 – $18.14 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the supervision of the nutrition activities conducted at a senior center.

  • Assist in the control of kitchen equipment and supplies.

  • Maintain daily and monthly state and federal reports.

  • Enforce and maintain City and Departmental policies as needed.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • Up to 1 year college coursework in Nutrition, Recreation, Parks or Sports Management

  • Must possess or obtain Food Handlers Certification within three months of employment

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Six months to one year experience in a recreation or sports facility

  • Bilingual preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of a variety of recreation activities and the ability to communicate that knowledge into organized activities

  • Basic knowledge of First Aid and CPR procedures

  • Basic knowledge of nutrition, kitchen and food handling procedures

  • Basic knowledge of recreational equipment and correct operation

  • Basic skill in operating office equipment and personal computer

  • Basic skill in operating equipment and supplies for custodial or technical assignments

  • Ability to work independently of the supervisor

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Licenses and Certifications

  • Food Handlers Certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Normal work day is four hours. Work is normally Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend or evening work may be required during special events or activities. Daily tasks require standing, sitting, bending and lifting up to twenty pounds.
