Our solutions enable companies to continuously improve environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and outcomes.The roleThis position will involve maintaining and improving relationships with Sedex’s diverse membership base in the Vietnamese market. It will also include developing and maintaining relationships with other stakeholders in the market, such as industry associations, auditing organisations, and non-Sedex member companies. The goal is to increase Sedex’s visibility in the local market, enhance Sedex’s professional image, and create new opportunities for cooperation and business development.Key responsibilitiesMember Relationship Management:
- Develop a strategy to identify key members and support various member organisations in using the Sedex products and services more effectively.
- Keep local members informed about Sedex updates and industry trends via regular meet-ups, community events, working groups, etc. Support Sedex to stay updated on members’ feedback and their demand for Sedex products, services, and broader sustainable and responsible supply chain initiatives.
- Support and implement other programs to enhance member satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Identify stakeholders in the local market (e.g. industry associations, auditing organisations, UN agencies and non-member companies) and develop a stakeholder communication and engagement strategy.
- Explore possible collaboration by maintaining existing stakeholder relationships, developing and identifying new stakeholders to increase Sedex’s visibility and influence in the local market, enhancing Sedex’s expertise in the sustainable and responsible supply chain sector, and promoting opportunities to reach out to and penetrate the non-member business community.
- Maintain regular communication and interaction with relevant local non-member organisations to increase their understanding of and trust in Sedex, laying the groundwork for future membership development.
Market Insight and Communication:
- Monitor, collect, and collate global and local policies, developments, and trends in ESG, sustainability, and supply chain management, ensuring Sedex’s products, services and expertise consider the needs of the local market. Provide valuable insights to local members and stakeholders.
- Stay updated with local laws and regulations in Vietnam concerning human resources, occupational health and safety, and environmental compliance.
- Keep informed about how Sedex’s competitors operate in the local market to ensure that Sedex remains sensitive to the competitive landscape.
- Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate the translation and proofreading of localised materials related to Sedex products and services, aiming to ensure relevance to the local market in the local language.
- Represent Sedex in Vietnam at relevant member and stakeholder events (e.g. conferences, seminars, etc.).
- Provide support and participate in other market insight and communications projects.
Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceIndustry background, experience and knowledge
- 10+ years of experience in stakeholder/partnership engagement, business development, and customer relations, especially in market exploration, communication, and development in emerging or immature markets. Experience in key customer relationship management and customer community event planning and operation.
- Background in providing professional services (e.g., consulting, training, solutions) in sustainability, ESG, supply chain sustainability, and social and environmental responsibility.
- Knowledge of upstream and downstream supply chain operations and international trade, and a clear and complete understanding of supply chain sustainability and due diligence management-related areas such as risk assessment, auditing and evaluation, training and capacity building, impact and reporting.
- Relevant knowledge of business and human rights, environmental management (e.g., climate change), sustainability reporting, supply chain due diligence legislation, and other sustainability and ESG-related topics would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in industry associations, chambers of commerce or membership organisations would be an advantage.
- A good network of contacts in the Vietnamese market (e.g. government, industry associations, and business groups) would be an advantage.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Native speaker Vietnamese and proficient in English; ability to speak Khmer or Chinese would be a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people of different natures (e.g., corporations, trade associations, UN agencies and governments, etc.) and at various levels, and experience in cross-cultural communication.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail, while maintaining commercial sensitivity.
- Innovative and with a spirit of initiative.
- Self-starter for continuous learning and improvement.
- Self-managed and able to work independently without much guidance.
- Experience in organizing events, public speaking or training.
- Expertise in information gathering, collation, and analysis.
- Experience of working or studying overseas is an advantage.
