The Oncology Unit is a specialized inpatient and outpatient care unit dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with cancer. The unit provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care that includes chemotherapy administration, radiation therapy coordination, pain management, symptom control, and palliative care.

Job Description:

Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.Under general supervision, providesprofessional nursing services and patient care in a variety of settings. Follows established nursingprocess, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies, and nursing procedures, standards, and practices. Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.

• Assessment and identification of patient needs and implementation ofappropriate interventionsconsidering the needs of patient populations perdepartmentscope of service.

• Delegation of nursing care activities and provisions of supervision;establishesand maintains a plan for the delivery of nursing care; assures that nursing care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems; and performs technical aspects of care competently.

• Has access to medication storage areas asrequiredfor job tasks. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures.

Requirements:

• Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing isrequired.

• Current RN licensure or temporary Kentucky work permit

• Associate Degree in Nursing with aBachelor’s Degreepreferred

• Completion and maintenance of BLS.

• Successful completion of all competencies asidentifiedon the departmentalnursecompetency grid.

• BLS Required
