position Summary
The Department of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Research Assistant to carry out and oversee clinical research studies within the Division of Child Neurology. The Research Assistant will report to the Director of Research.
Responsibilities

Research Regulatory Compliance: Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol write-up and submission, informed consent development, completion of appropriate HIPAA Forms and Data Usage Agreements, submission of renewals, modifications, and close-out reports, ensuring that studies are performed in accordance with IRB policies, and maintenance of data and study files.

Study-Specific Responsibilities: Subject screening and recruitment, obtaining informed consent, administration of surveys, assisting with data collection, chart reviews, and basic data analysis.

Providing Administrative Assistance to Study PIs: Preparation and submission of abstracts, manuscripts for publication, and grants to sponsors; updating attendings’ CVs and conflict of interest disclosures; ensuring research agreements and contracts are executed in collaboration with the Grants Administrator; and serving as the main administrative contact for the research team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in Windows operating systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Experience in clinical research

Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, FDA Rules and Regulations, NIH Guidelines, ICH Guidelines, and HIPAA and IRB Regulations in relation to Clinical Research

Highly organized with attention to detail

Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple projects at once

Ability to set and meet deadlines

Experience with managing large data sets

Experience with Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) and Epic
-
Experience working with persons with neurological diseases or disabilities
Other Requirements

Willing to work some evenings and weekend hours
