Job Summary

The Research Education Analyst serves as Task Leader for project activities in instrument design, district/school recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and reporting for large-scale studies in elementary/secondary/postsecondary education research and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Task Leader for project activities in instrument design, district/school recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and reporting for large-scale studies in elementary/secondary/postsecondary education research and evaluation, or Project Director role on smaller education projects.
• May manage the work of several early-career level staff or staff from other divisions.
• Perform analyses, write descriptive and analytic reports, and lead other project activities.
• Write sections for data collection manuals, progress reports and Internal Review Board packages.
• Perform moderately complex statistical and cost-effectiveness analyses.
• Design, implement, and analyze simulation models.
• Apply optimization techniques to education research analyses.
• Contribute to proposals and business development.
• Take the appropriate proposal training courses and apply knowledge and project experiences on proposal efforts.
• Write proposal sections of moderate technical complexity requiring application of education research theories and methodologies.
• Lead both the business and technical portions of a proposal.
• Mentor early-career staff.
• Meet scientific stature goals by submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals, participating in professional meetings and associations, and developing tools and methods to advance RTI’s capabilities.
• Lead the development of scientific stature activities with early-career staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of experience; a Master’s degree and at least 3 years of experience; a PhD and 0 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Quantitative and/or qualitative work experience related to education research.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Experience with statistical programming packages (e.g. SAS, Stata, R, Python).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to listen and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to meet frequent, multiple and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with open-source programming, specifically R and/or Python.
