Research Fellow within a NIHR Global Health Research Group: Developing a National Suicide Response for Young People in Indonesia

The University of Manchester invites applications for the post of Research Fellow (Global Research) to join the Mental Health Research Group within the Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work, School of Health Sciences (DNMSW). This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a NIHR Global Health Research Group, establishing a national suicide response for young people in Indonesia. The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of mental health clinicians and mental health researchers in the UK and SE Asia.The Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work, delivers world-class research, and we are recognised is as the best research-oriented centre for Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work in the UK. In the last Research Exercise Framework (REF 2014, Unit of Assessment 3, Allied Health Professionals, Dentistry and Pharmacy), we ranked top of 94 institutions nationally for research power. Our research excellence is underpinned by the production of collaborative, high-quality and impactful research outputs which aim to improve health and social care at local, national and international levels. Researchers in our Division collaborate internationally, and nationally with the Department of Health, NHS staff, community and charitable organisations and patient and community partners.In this project, you will work closely with Dr Helen Brooks and Professor Penny Bee (Chief Investigators), Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work, as well as other members of the project team. You will be based in the Mental Health Research Group, Division of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work, within the School of Health Sciences. This is a 1.0 FTE post, for a maximum of 44 months (dependent upon appointment date and probationary review). There is opportunity for a hybrid model of office and home-based working.You will hold a PhD in a relevant subject area (or equivalent) and be expected to coordinate and manage a global, mixed methods, multi-site research programme, including Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities, to time and budget. This will require skills and expertise in mental health research in conducting research with young people. The post will involve extensive liaison with the project team and their clinical and academic collaborators. Experience of leading research activities and managing large multi-site research projects focussed on young people’s mental health is essential.What you will get in return:
