Are you a skilled Research Psychologist/cognitive neuroscientist with over 10 years of experience designing, managing, and completing human performance research looking for a new opportunity? Look no further than Leidos! We are seeking a Research Psychologist II to support intramural human use research at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory (NAMRU), Naval Medical Research Unit in Dayton, OH.
Research efforts within the Department of Otolaryngology will require collaborating with principal investigators (PIs) on research investigating vestibular function and biocybernetics (i.e., human-machine interactions)
Developing and implementing new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
Actively participating in the recruitment and interview of prospective study participants
Planning and designing research to test hypotheses anddesigning and conducting advanced and complex experiments
Creating stimulus materials and performing testing of human subjects; collecting, analyzing, modeling and/or interpreting research data
Compiling and interpreting research findings for dissemination of research results to the scientific community
Preparing oral presentations for national and international scientific conferences, workshops and seminars and writing and submitting manuscripts, articles and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Overseeing and managing lab equipment and records and assisting PIs in preparing grant applications to obtain funding in support of research
Collaborating with PIs to develop and establish goals and objectives of research and participating in training and oversight of students and clinicians

The Challenge:
Serve as research psychologist/cognitive neuroscientist in human use research studies and analyses to understand human physiological factors associated with military operations in the aviation, space, and related environments especially as they relate to aeromedical standards, altitude effects, aviation safety, neurocognitive/neurophysiological effects, and related areas. Research activities will involve medical and human use research both in the laboratory and in the field.
Develop research in new areas by responding to proposal and grant requests with cogent research study proposals in your area of scientific expertise that are consistent with the NAMRL mission, within scope of the target research, appropriately designed, within capabilities and budget and pertinent to proposal/grant requests. This includes responding to appropriate funding announcements, solicitations, Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and specific proposal/grant requests, as directed by the NAMRU-D customer, as well as seeking opportunities to submit ideas to other mechanisms as appropriate and approved following customer technical direction.
Design and conduct scientific research, identifying Navy-relevant topics in the areas of warfighter health and performance and write research preproposals, research protocols, formal technical reports, and journal publications addressing the above topics. (All publications are subject to Government review and approval).
Design and conduct multi-disciplinary scientific research focusing on health and performance.
Assist with the guidance and execution of research projects by determining project completion needs, obtaining/developing laboratory materials, developing research progress, and financial plans, developing documentation and coordinating approval of related of human subjects use and/or animal use documents, and managing resources necessary to meet project goals.
Prepare presentations, publications, and other products for non-research technical and general audiences. (All publications are subject to Government review and approval).
Report outcomes, and recommendations through formal meetings, presentations, briefings, technical reports, and publications. (All publications are subject to Government review and approval).
Assist other investigators in the design and execution of research protocols on human performance issues of interest to the Navy.
Assist and educate entry level research assistant personnel in the understanding and performance of their duties.
Operate and maintain standard and specialized laboratory equipment to include specialized spectroradiometers and photometers.
Perform statistical analyses using SigmaPlot, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) or Statistical Analysis Software (SAS). Examples of the typical analyses required for successful performance include T-tests, Chi-Square, Analyses of Variance, Multivariate Analyses of Variance, analyses of covariance, multivariate analyses of covariance, correlations, linear regressions, multiple linear regressions, and power analyses.
Use multiple computer software packages to create spreadsheets and perform statistical routines (to include MATLAB and laser safety computational software)
Independently and proactively prepare mission-relevant proposal applications for cognitive, physiological, medical, and performance studies.
Be willing and able to work non-traditional hours (e.g., nights, weekends) as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.

Pay Range:Pay Range $87,100.00 – $157,450.00
