The research laboratory of Dr. Zachary Campbell, Bamforth Distinguished Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology at the School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a Research Specialist passionate about molecular neurobiology in the area of non-opioid analgesic discovery. The Research Specialist will maintain our mouse colony; including managing genotyping and breeding. This position will conduct research experiments that test analgesics in mice using standard behavioral assessments and quantification of protein and RNA abundance in tissues that contain sensory neurons. Additionally, this role will have the opportunity to provide essential training and guidance to junior staff, students, and interns, contributing significantly to the advancement of our research program. Key Job Responsibilities:
- Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
- Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
- Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
- Performs literature reviews and writes reports
- Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
- Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials

Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $44,600 up to $60,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.
