Job Description:UE06: £33,882 – £39,105School of Biological Sciences – Institute of Ecology and EvolutionFull time: 35 hours per weekFixed term: 12 monthsWe are looking for a Research Technician in insect reproductive genetics and epigenetics. This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.The Opportunity:We are seeking an experienced research technician (RT) who will contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of the lab, as well as to plan and carry out experimental work. The main job purpose is to assist with ongoing research on the reproductive genetics and chromosome behaviour of several insect study systems. This will involve conducting experiments and preforming genetic and cytogenetic analyses. We therefore require a candidate with a graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant field.Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Molecular wet lab experience, in particular with advanced cytogenetics and microscopy
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Providing training and supervision to both students and other lab members
  • Experience studying chromosome behaviour and meiosis
  • Experience ChIP-seq/Cut&Tag sequencing data, RNAi experiments, FISH/in situ hybridization would be very advantageous.
