The Resource Mobilization Assistant Consultant (Alternative Sources) will provide analytical, operational, and strategic support to the Department of Partnership and Resource Mobilization (DPRM). The consultant will focus on providing support mainly for the Fund’s alternative sources related planning and outreach/engagement activities such as solidarity taxation, philanthropic foundations, private sector contributions, and other innovative financing mechanisms.
Duties and responsibilities
Within DPRM, the Resource Mobilization Assistant Consultant (Alternative Sources) will:
Support the development of engagement strategies for various tracks of alternative sources, including but not limited to revenues from solidarity taxation, direct contributions from non-sovereign contributors such as philanthropic foundations and the private sector, and other innovative sources of financing.
Assist in facilitating outreach and engagement with potential new alternative source contributors and other relevant stakeholders, including conducting background research, performing analytical work, coordinating inputs, scheduling and organizing meetings, taking minutes, and following up on tasks.
Conduct necessary research and analysis and prepare briefing notes to identify opportunities for various tracks of alternative sources.
Assist in procuring professional services where necessary.
Support the coordination of internal communications, ensuring timely dissemination of information and responding to routine requests for information.
Perform any other administrative and support duties as assigned.
Expected experience and qualifications
Master’s degree in climate policy, development policy, international relations, finance, or a related field.
More than two years of relevant work experience. Experience in mobilization resources from alternative sources (solidarity taxation, non-sovereign contributions, etc.) is desirable.
Ability to manage large volumes of work under time pressure with a high level of accuracy.
Desirable experience and knowledge in development and/or climate finance, multilateral funds, and the UNFCCC framework.
Highly collaborative team player with experience working in multicultural organizations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with experience in preparing high-quality written briefings, reports, and other documents.
Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of a local language and/or another UN language is an advantage.
