Pay Rate*: $50.00/hr.

position Summary

Provides competent respiratory care by applying technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to evaluate, stabile, prevent, and treat cardiopulmonary conditions. Recognizes personal limitations and seeks assistance when appropriate, while adhering to established standards, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates developing proficiency in prioritization, adaptability, and clinical judgment. Competence is reflected in the ability to manage changing patient conditions, maintain control in varied situations, and deliver safe, effective care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Provides respiratory care services by administering medications and performing therapeutic and diagnostic interventions in emergent and non-emergent situations in accordance with Respiratory Care Services policies and procedures.

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using respiratory care equipment appropriately in the delivery of patient care.

  • Maintains equipment and supplies by decontaminating respiratory care equipment and supplies according to department policies and procedures.

  • Implements patient and family education plans by assisting with teaching patients, family members, and significant others the knowledge and skills necessary to manage illness.

  • Applies infection prevention and control practices by consistently following infection control and policies and procedures, including effective hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.

  • Documents and processes patient care information by completing accurate and timely clinical documentation and billing in the patient’s medical record in accordance with respiratory care standards, scientific principles, and hospital policy.

  • Maintains professional competency by performing respiratory care skills across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations, with competency validated through observation, simulation, or training.

  • Supports departmental operations and quality initiatives by identifying and reporting problems through department-specific channels and participating in performance improvement projects.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
