EY- Risk Consulting –Senior – Sanctions Screening Model Validation

As part of our Risk Consulting – Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) team, we are looking for a Senior Consultant with strong consulting and technical skills to join the FSRM team and to work with our FS clients on some of the most prestigious projects within the financial services sector across MENA region. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm whilst strongly contributing to the growth of Risk Consulting – FS domain service offerings and solutions thus creating authentic customer experiences.

The opportunity

As a FSRM Senior Consultant, you will engage with clients to validate and enhance sanctions screening models, ensuring they are finely tuned to meet regulatory standards and operational needs. You will work within different sized, multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in ensuring high quality outputs and service to our clients. The role involves developing knowledge and implementing new solutions in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients.

This position will be based out of our offices (Kochi/ Thiruvananthapuram) in the state of Kerala.

Your key responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough validation of sanction screening system models.
  • Analyse model outputs and identify potential areas of risk or false positives/negatives.
  • Collaborate with model development teams to understand model design and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of models.
  • Ensure models comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practises.
  • Develop algorithms to generate synthetic test data with different levels of fuzziness to assess effectiveness and efficiency of the model
  • Develop and implement validation frameworks including back-testing, threshold setting, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare detailed validation reports and documentation for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend enhancements to models and validation processes based on findings.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and advancements in model validation techniques.
  • Manage multiple assignments and related project teams.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the client and onshore client teams.
  • Maintain excellent rapport and proactive communication with the client.
  • Good to have experience in Risk Management or other Risk Consulting engagements.
  • The job would require travel (Over 50%) to client locations in Middle East and North Africa such as Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh, Doha etc.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, enabling them to meet their performance goals and successfully grow their careers.
  • Manage the engagement budgets and support superiors in developing marketing collaterals, business proposals and new solution / methodology development.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Proficient in SQL, SSIS, Python, SAS, Power BI, ETL development and validation.
  • Experience in sanctions screening system validation (Fircosoft/Safewatch/Omni/Siron), fine-tuning, list management, name and payment screening processes, screening exclusions and project management.
  • Familiarity with name screening processes including real time screening, batch screening, sanctions screening, PEP screening and adverse media screening
  • Familiarity with different domestic and cross-border payment gateways, payment types, tags and payment screening requirements
  • Experience in conducting data profiling, data quality, data lineage and data completeness checks
  • Hands on experience in data analysis tools and database development.
  • Familiarity with Model management standards/guidelines (MMSG), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations.
  • Exceptional report writing and presentations skills
  • Exceptional command over spoken and written English.
  • Globally mobile and flexible to travel to onsite locations at a short notice.
  • Highly analytical, organised, and meticulous consulting skills; attention to detail and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills, inspiring teamwork, and responsibility with engagement team members.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadline.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Work experience in similar industry (Big 4 preferred).

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience working with business consulting firms.
  • A valid passport for travel.

Preferably, you may also have

  • AML, CTF Certification (CAMS, CAFP).
  • Experience / certifications in Cloud Data Architecture, Data Engineering.
