Job summary

Provide support to enable 43 Cdo FPG RM to meet their mission and tasks.

Working within the Training Wing, of 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines, Based in HMNB Clyde (Faslane), providing data entry and management of training qualifications and equipment management. A focus on MT (Motor Transport) and driving / maintenance qualifications but also responsibility for wider training qualifications awarded by the Training Wing. Use of MOD IT systems and databases will be an integral part of the role. Wider activity will include involvement in scheduling and coordination of training activity and equipment availability relating to Nuclear Security Force Generation in support of the Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Post Holder will raise and administer training paperwork. Utilise documented data for the population of routine reports to 43 Cdo FPG RM Chain of Command. Utilise MOD Training Information Systems and Databases, to record and manage training qualifications and competencies.

Administer MOD vehicle database c(currently JAMES), with a focus on equipment user and maintainer qualifications but, expanding into equipment management to provide resilience with the other JAMES Manager. Requiring close liaison with relevant chains of command.

Supporting Training Officer and Training Management Officers to ensure qualifications and competencies are captured. with the relevant MOD database, including but not limited to driving qualifications and training records. 

Person specification

The type of person we are looking for is a highly motivated Administrative Officer who would work well as part of dynamic team. IT competency and experience in use of database and spreadsheet management is necessary – although training and instruction on specific databases will be provided. Good communication, written and verbal, will be an essential part of effectively fulfilling the role.

  • Professional qualifications can be achieved through an apprenticeship and range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree.
  • Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months – 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.
  • Anyone can undertake an Apprenticeship and everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from developing their skills in an accredited way.
  • Successful candidates can discuss their development options with their manager when in post.
  • Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.   • The post does not offer relocation expenses.
  • External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
