Continuous At Sea Deterrence is one of the Royal Navy’s key outputs. 43 Cdo FPGRM delivers protection to this capability as well as providing support to Commando Force’s operations. Within 43 Cdo Logistics Department providing essential logistical support to all aspects of the unit, enabling operational commitments to endure.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

Post Holder will be the focal point of contact 43 Cdo FP Gp RM Motor Transport, Training, vehicle, and fleet vehicle data base Administration Officer. to support Force Generation and Training activity this will include recording all of training competencies with the MOD system. The post holder will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Ensuring all demands/requests for transport are actioned effectively and economically in accordance with policy, Local Standing Orders, and the relevant contract procedures.
  • Authorising requests for Continuous Use, Hire or Private Vehicle use as appropriate. Allocate the appropriate vehicle, issue the Authority to Use Document, Fuel Card, and Driver Information Pack in accordance with policy.
  • Ensuring that vehicles, fuel cards and completed documentation are returned and that any damage is reported.

Person specification

MT Admin Officer is a key role within the Log Dept, providing crucial support functions underpinning the outputs of 43 Cdo FPGRM. Your enthusiasm and professional standards are essential to ensuring use of White Fleet Vehicles records and booking are done correctly, all driver records and training if in date and recorded correcting the MOD Databases with guidance and support from the team. All training records are up to date. Your contribution will directly affect the wider Unit, allowing us to continue to do essential work. You will require strong communication skills and a personable demeanour will be vital for liaising with colleagues both within and outside the department. Training will be provided on an MOD specific Databases and application.

An apprenticeship is a combined package of work and training. Through an apprenticeship you will gain professional knowledge, practical experience, and the broader skills required to upskill you in your current role and pave the way for your future career. Most of the training will be ‘on-the-job’, with the remaining ‘off-the-job’ training often delivered by a training provider. This means minimal disruption and maximum impact.

Professional qualifications can be achieved through an apprenticeship and range from Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), Level 3 (equivalent to 2 A Levels), and Levels 4 -7, which can give you a foundation degree, a full bachelor’s degree, or a master’s degree.

Apprenticeships normally last between 12 months – 3 years, depending on the level of the apprenticeship.

Anyone can undertake an Apprenticeship and everyone, regardless of age, can benefit from developing their skills in an accredited way.

Successful candidates can discuss their development options with their manager when in post.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
