GRADE: 5 CONTRACT LENGTH: Until Dec 2026

With possible extension based on performance and budget availability. Contingent upon confirmation of funding [1]

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: The post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently emergency humanitarian work.

 

This project aims that children and youth in vulnerable situations have their rights respected and possess sound self-reliance capacities that allow them to improve their life perspectives. It will also target national and community organizations to enable them to provide effective protection and self-reliance services for children and youth.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The CBP Coordinator will lead the design and implementation of community-based protection activities under the EAMR project. The role focuses on strengthening community structures, promoting social cohesion, and ensuring access to protection and self-reliance services for vulnerable migrant and refugee children and youth. The position requires strong coordination with local actors, capacity building of community volunteers, and active engagement with community leaders and institutions.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Child Protection Senior Officer

Staff directly reporting to this post: 6 community mobilizers

Close coordination with the CP Technical Advisor, the Operations Officer, the MHPSS Officer and other child protection team members from different projects.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

 

Project Planning and Implementation:

·        Develop and implement CBP plans aligned with project objectives.

·        Establish and strengthen community-based protection mechanisms in collaboration with local leaders and stakeholders.

·        Promote inclusive participation of children, youth, and vulnerable groups in protection activities.

·        Supervise and mentor outreach officers and community mobilizers.

·        Identify capacity gaps and organize training for volunteers and community actors.

·        Coordinate with local NGOs, CBOs, and government entities to enhance protection networks.

·        Facilitate meetings and social cohesion activities with community leaders, parents, and youth.

·        Lead on the awareness sessions on child rights, protection, and available services.

·        Ensure community feedback mechanisms are in place and functional.

·        Build and sustain concrete relationships with community leaders, children, and youths in the target area.

·        Supervise identifying, empowering, and building the capacity of the outreach team.

·        Ensure smooth coordination with other project components and other implemented projects when necessary.

·        Regularly update services mapping in targeted area.

In case of Emergency:

·        Promote children”s rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and the code of conduct.

·        During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned.

·        Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility

Reporting and documentation

·        Draft concise, useful, and analytical reports, case studies, and other documents as needed on a monthly and quarterly basis and as requested by SC, donors, and other stakeholders.

·        Oversee collection, protection, and reporting of community-level data.

·        Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, referrals, and vulnerability assessments.

·        Produce regular reports for project monitoring and donor requirements.

Other Responsibilities:

·        Work closely with the senior officer, project manager, relevant technical advisors, and MEAL team to develop and implement the project work plans, and activities and prepare monitoring reports.

·        Representing SC in coordination platforms with the community, partner INGOs, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: Social science, Sociology, Development, Political Science, or related studies.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

·      3-5 years of previous relevant experience, especially in working with refugees and migrants in particular.

·      Previous management experience is required.

·      Demonstrated community outreach and mobilization experience.

·      Proficiency in Arabic and English, written and spoken is a must.

·      Excellent drafting, interpersonal, interviewing and communication skills.

·      Demonstrated ability to work with highly vulnerable groups.

·      Awareness about the security context and political situation in Egypt for refugees.

·      Able to work effectively within a team and/or individually.

·      This is a field job; candidate must be willing to work in the field effectively.

·      Shares Save the Children’s vision and values.

Desirable

·      Proven ability to design and deliver capacity-building sessions, including developing training materials and facilitating interactive workshops.

·      Experience in planning and leading external camps or community events, ensuring logistical coordination, safety compliance, and integration of protection and child rights themes.
