Security Guard Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION

Gilbert Unified School District 

Purpose Statement

The job of Security Guard Lead is done for the purpose/s of providing for the safety and welfare of students while on school grounds; monitoring personnel and/or visitors; communicating information in response to inquiries; and providing administrative support. 

Essential Functions

  • Arranges And Provides CPR and first aid training to security staff as needed for the purpose of maintaining a level of competence of staff to provide emergency first aid and CPR services.
  • Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
  • Enforces student dress code for the purpose of maintaining appropriate decorum in campus building and grounds.
  • Maintains equipment and building sites in conjunction with building maintenance personnel (e.g. assists building custodian with emergency cleanups, replacement of lamps, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment.
  • Maintains security carts and radios in working order for the purpose of having working equipment available at all times.
  • Monitors school activities and facilities (e.g. alarm systems, and locks/gates, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safety of students, personnel and property.
  • Monitors student behavior (e.g. lunch room, classrooms with substitutes, detention, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student compliance to established regulations and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Patrols school facilities (e.g. grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring crime.
  • Prepares documentation (e.g. incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Provides emergency first aid to students, staff and the general public for the purpose of maintaining health and safety .
  • Provides traffic and parking control (e.g. School parking lots and driveways, etc.) For the purpose of maintaining efficient traffic flow and use of parking lot/s.
  • Refers incidents to appropriate site personnel (e.g. injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring follow-up in accordance with administrative guidelines.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Schedules/conducts weekly staff meeting of security staff for the purpose of imparting information and receiving feedback from staff.

Other Functions

  • Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: 25 years or older; adhering to safety practices; being observant; operating equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: health standards and hazards; safety practices and procedures

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality ; working as part of a team; and working with constant and sustained interruptions.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; directing other persons within a small work unit; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job’s functions. Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity . Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 70% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and a generally hazard free environment. Experience
