Job Summary
An inclusive mainstream primary school in Croydon is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to work within their specialized SEN department. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide tailored education to students with additional needs while being part of a supportive and collaborative school community.
- Full-time, permanent position starting January
- Work with small groups or individual students with SEN needs

Responsibilities and Duties
- Plan and deliver individualized lessons for students with special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning challenges.
- Collaborate with the SENCo and classroom teachers to design and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Use creative and adaptable teaching strategies to ensure lessons are accessible, engaging, and inclusive.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, helping them achieve their academic, social, and emotional goals.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to parents, carers, and school staff.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and a positive attitude toward learning.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for students.
- Participate in training sessions, staff meetings, and school events to contribute to the ongoing development of the SEN department.
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, with experience teaching students with SEN.
- A strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies, behaviour management, and inclusive education practices.
- Experience working within an SEN department or providing targeted support in a mainstream school is highly desirable.
- Patience, empathy, and creativity to engage and support students with diverse needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for supporting SEN students.
- Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
