We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a diligent and motivated GL Accountant Sr in the accounting industry, located in Toronto, Ontario. As a GL Accountant Sr, you will be entrusted with various complex accounting activities, including the maintenance of a comprehensive and accurate general ledger, and the production of financial reports for management.Responsibilities:

• Accurately process accounting variances reports and records, making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures
• Maintain and reconcile billings and accounts receivables for large clients, markets, or accounts
• Create month-end accounting entries, reconcile discrepancies and post to the general ledger
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring data from the subsystem is accurately sent
• Review the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications
• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other accounting statements or financial reports
• Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles
• Apply general knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish tasks and solve routine problems
• Lead by example and model behaviors that align with the values of the organization
• Answer escalated questions regarding various accounting issues and reports
• Work primarily within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suites, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
• Demonstrated experience in General Ledger management
• Ability to perform Billing Functions accurately and timely
• Proficiency in conducting Balance Sheet Account reconciliations
• Strong reporting skills, specifically in Financial Reporting
• Ability to review and analyze financial statements
• Experience in supervising teams or individuals
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Capability to troubleshoot and resolve financial discrepancies
• Proficiency in performing ad hoc financial tasks as necessary
• Knowledge of standard financial practices and procedures
• Experience in recording and maintaining journal entries
• Ability to ensure quality control over financial transactions
• Capability to perform variance analysis tasks
• Knowledge of ‘About Time’ software or similar timekeeping tools
• Ability to answer and address financial queries promptly and accurately.
