Purpose of position

Performs financial and operational work applying professional accounting principles and techniques, ensuring compliance and quality control measures.

Essential Functions

  • Applies knowledge of the accounts payable function to prioritize actions and consistently applies policies and practices
  • Manages varying sources of information and situations to accurately provide solutions
  • Monitors and controls the flow of work through accounting systems
  • Identifies and resolves problems that arise
  • Develops and delivers effective communication that conveys clear understanding of the unique needs of different customers
  • Practices high standards and gains the confidence and trust of others through honesty, confidentiality, and integrity
  • Assists with annual financial requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
  • Five (5) years of accounting experience required.
  • Each additional year of experience over the required minimum may substitute for one year of college (30 semester hours) on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior state and USAS experience

Working Conditions

  • Uses standard office equipment
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend hours

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration. The background check may include any or all of the following: criminal history check, prior employment verification, education verification, professional references check, and motor vehicle records check. Background checks are conducted by third-party vendors. Upon request form the third-party vendor, candidates under final consideration must provide the required information for the background checks to be completed.
