The Senior Benefits Manager is responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of the organization’s health and group benefits, leave, and retirement programs. This role ensures that benefit offerings are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with the company’s values and business goals. The position collaborates closely with HRIS, payroll, finance, and legal teams to ensure benefits administration is compliant with all regulatory requirements and that processes are streamlined and accurate. The Senior Benefits Manager will manage a team of three individuals.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of benefits strategies across health and group benefits, leave, and retirement programs.
  • Monitor market trends and benchmarking data to recommend enhancements that maintain competitiveness and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA).
  • Lead annual open enrollment process with external vendors and internal stakeholders, including definition of system configuration requirements, testing, and employee communications.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
  • Lead vendor evaluations, renewals, and RFP processes to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Develop and deliver benefit education campaigns to increase employee understanding and participation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • CEBS certification preferred.
  • Experience in union environments and multi-state operations.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ADP and SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience managing vendors and leading plan assessments and renewals.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.

Salary: $140,000 – $165,000 annually. A starting salary higher than $140,000 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
