About The Role 

The Environmental Solutions practice at FTI Consulting offers a comprehensive suite of services aimed at helping organizations deal with a specific environmental issue or programmatic challenges. The Environmental Solutions practice’s services focus on the resolution of complex contamination, toxic tort, products liability and insurance disputes.

What You’ll Do 

FTI Consulting Inc.’s Environmental Solutions practice is looking for an in-person GIS Analyst at our Wayne, PA office. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide practitioners with spatial data analysis, data visualization, data management, and figure development in support of project reporting. This position requires an individual skilled in the use of ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Enterprise and handling/management of data sources including EQuIS, Microsoft Access, and Excel databases, historical aerial and oblique imagery and associated analysis, conversion, manipulation, quality assurance, tracking, and reporting. Our projects typically involve resolution of disputes and allocation of damages at complex environmental remediation sites that require a multi-disciplinary approach for successful completion. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet critical client deadlines.

  • Prepare spatial data for analysis and visualization including data improvement, data conversion, georeferencing, and organization.
  • Execute spatial data analysis and evaluation (queries, joins, relates) using geospatial software tools (e.g., ArcGIS Pro).
  • Work with our team to develop processes, workflows, and solutions using GIS.
  • Create various maps and demonstrative exhibits and be able to work with our practice’s ArcGIS Enterprise by publishing services and configuring tools.
  • Utilize MS Access databases for tracking and analyzing information.
  • Identify, collect, and organize publicly available data.
  • Communicate complex concepts through data visualizations and demonstrative exhibits.

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Engineering, or another related field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience applying GIS skills; technical experience with ESRI suite of GIS software – ArcGIS Pro and publishing services to ArcGIS Enterprise from Pro.
  • 4+ years’ experience with configuring tools in ArcGIS Enterprise (such as Map, Dashboard, App Builder, Experience Builder).
  • Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS), in particular Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Photoshop, or other graphics programs.
  • Cartographic knowledge – understanding and executing tasks with attention to basic cartographic principals using ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Ability to operate independently, using independent judgment and discretion in analyses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on attention to details.
  • Ability to think analytically and critically.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cartographic skills – experience executing aesthetically pleasing and practically functioning maps and well-designed figures using ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Related experience in environmental consulting, Superfund liability, and/or litigation support services.
  • Working knowledge of a broad range of software programs and file formats, and the ability to successfully troubleshoot data compatibility issues.
