Our Public Sector Advisory team are passionate about making a difference in the sector by helping clients make and implement informed decisions related to their property holdings to make them either more effective in delivery or cost efficient – both with the aim of supporting front line services delivered in support vulnerable client groups.

Business case review and drafting (both HMT “Green Book” and any local arrangements)

We currently have sufficient Programme Management Office resource so are not seeking candidates solely with this skill set at this stage.
We are searching for a Senior Consultant – Public Sector Advisory to support the wider team and the development of our services based in Nottingham (or Birmingham).
You will work collaboratively within the project team, managing junior staff and being responsible for the delivery of specific workstreams and tasks as part of the overall engagement. This could include other Advisory personnel, other Gleeds disciplines and / or disciplines from outside of Gleeds as part of a multi-disciplinary approach.
We have a hybrid working policy where you will have the option to work 2-3 days per from home when not working from one of our modern City Centre Midlands offices or at a client site when required to do so.
To be successful in your role you will have a working understanding of the public sector and have experience in providing high-quality consultancy services to a range of public sector entities with minimal supervision, both effectively and efficiently by utilising more junior resources where appropriate. You will be innovative and have a growth mindset always looking to adapt your approach and style to meet the many and varying needs of our clients.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working collaboratively with other team members to deliver a top-class Advisory service which meets the requirements of the client
Responsible for the management and delivery of a particular workstream or task as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This could include:
Engaging with key client stakeholders
Build effective relationships with stakeholders and external parties to ensure dependencies are effectively managed
Producing innovative solutions to client challenges in a variety of formats
Producing presentations and presenting to client groups
Capture lessons learnt as part of our commitment to continuous improvement
Supporting Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives
Positively engaging with clients and developing, growing and maintaining client relationships
Identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the business unit activities
Managing yourself and others to deliver a high-quality and profitable service
About You
What we are looking for in our next Senior Consultant – Public Sector Advisory
Ambition and a keenness to take on responsibility and progress
Sound knowledge of the public sector and challenges
Better Business Case qualification / knowledge would be beneficial
Knowledge and practical experience of developing Business Cases and wider Consultancy advice for clients
Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
Methodical way of thinking and approach to work
Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily
Excellent problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work as part of a high-performing and multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications
Project management or role relevant qualification (Better Business Cases, Benefits Management etc) qualification would be beneficial or alternatively knowledge through extensive practical experience in this area either through prior consultancy roles or employment in the public sector.
